A fine and unusual antique French 0.15 carat diamond and 18 carat gold, gun dog and duck jabot pin brooch; part of our jewellery collection

Description

This fine and unusual antique 18ct gold French jabot* pin brooch is ornamented with a gun dog and duck in flight.

Both animals are embellished with old Dutch cut diamonds and millegrain decoration.

Each animal has a cabouchon ruby eye.

The hallmarked pin is secured via the twist and push fit sleeve to the reverse of the dog.

This item is supplied with an independent diamond grading report card.

* Jabot pins were initially worn when men's shirts had a ruffle to the front. The pin was employed to keep the ruffle in place.

Jabot pins have subsequently been worn by men as either cravat or tie pins, and by ladies as brooches or lapel pins.

Condition

This unusual antique French jabot pin brooch is fine quality, set with quality diamonds.

The brooch is in excellent condition.

Hallmarks including the French guarantee mark (the eagle's head) to the reverse of the pin are very clear.
