Description

This magnificent, fine and impressive ruby and diamond pendant/brooch has been crafted in platinum with an 18 ct yellow gold ruby setting.

The simple yet effective square, pierced decorated frame displays a central feature 0.48 ct Old European round cut diamond, claw set within four fleur-de-lys shaped millegrain decorated settings.

The central arrangement is surrounded by a rectangular 18 ct yellow gold setting ornamented with sixteen square stepped cut natural rubies.

A millegrain decorated flower and pinnate leaf design embellished with forty-four pavé and collet set Old European cut diamonds surrounds the rubies.

Thirty-six channel set square mine cut diamonds are displayed in the exterior border, which completes the overall design.

This versatile pendant is suspended from a contemporary 18 ct white gold hallmarked trace chain via a detachable, flared suspension loop attachment accented with three pavé set Old European cut diamonds.

This stunning antique pendant can also be worn as a brooch via a detachable screw fit, hinged pin and clasp fastening.

This fine example of early 1900's craftsmanship is stamped to the reverse with the maker's mark 'BILLINGS'*.

This fine pendant/brooch has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as platinum and 18 ct gold.

The diamond and ruby brooch is supplied with an independent diamond grading certificate for the central diamond in addition to an independent diamond grading report card for the supporting stones.

NOTE *BILLINGS - Chester Billings & Son (1897-1910) was the successor to Randel, Baremore & Billings (1880-1897). Based in New York, Billings was also a London diamond importer.

Condition

This magnificent pendant/brooch is exceptional quality set with natural rubies and very high colour graded, old cut diamonds.

The brooch is a very good gauge of platinum and is in excellent condition, with a clear mark to the reverse of the setting.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine example of antique jewellery/estate jewelry.
