Dear Andrew,

Confirming that the skewer arrived safely at my home today. Thank you for excellent packaging, also the storage bag and documentation enclosed. The skewer is an excellent example of a very rare item and I’m delighted with it. I agree with you that it is definitely by Eley & Fearn.

By way of further explanation, I am a specialist collector of flatware made by Eley & Fearn. I have examples in the Old English pattern of virtually every piece they ever made, including a wide range of serving and other pieces. I have a good standard 12 inch ring skewer (not particularly rare) and a fair example of a 9 inch skewer (missing its ring), but I’ve not ever had a 6 inch example.

In 20 years of collecting I can only ever recall seeing one other one by Eley & Fearn, but in poor condition.

Please tell Mr. Campbell that I am delighted not only with the card holders but also their handling, packing, and presentation with storage bags.

Since I had only last week received a costly item damaged in shipment from another dealer in England, I feared the card holders, being fragile, might suffer a similar fate. My fears were groundless since they had been wrapped in paper, then bubble pack (as I requested), then placed in an oversize carton filled with foam insulation. The meticulous packing was not in vain since one side of the box had deep indentations from mishandling.

I especially appreciated the insurance valuation and the silver storage bags since they thoughtfully anticipated matters to which I had not yet adverted when ordering.

In brief, in this age where first-class business done in a first-class way is almost a bygone memory Mr. Campbell maintains that standard unreservedly. Kudos to him and all your colleagues.
