The pieces of this exceptional antique Austro-Hungarian silver straight* flatware service for 12 persons have been crafted in the Art Deco style.

This 800 standard silver flatware set consists of 93 pieces:

Basic Service:

12 Dessert forks
12 Dessert spoons
12 Teaspoons
Additional Pieces:

This service benefits from two swept circular salts, fitted with angular handles to either side and each retaining the original glass liner.

The Austro-Hungarian hallmarks struck to each piece, including the original knives include:

Maker's mark: WGY, HA, tapering icon (untraced)

Silver quality/purity mark: Dianakopf mark** (.800, 800/1000)

Assay mark: P (Pest, Hungary)

This impressive German silver cutlery set is fitted to the original hinged oak wood box with a lift out tray.

The interior of the box bears a felt lined interior and bears the retailer's mark 'Pollak Alfréd, Ezüstáruk, Gyári Raktára, Budapest, IV Városház-Utcza 16'.

The box is embellished with two carrying handles, an oval shaped escucheon and two swivel catches.

* "Straight" means all the pieces are made by the same maker in the same year.

** This variation of the Dianakopf mark was used for Austro-Hungarian silver between 1872-1922; this mark, in addition to the style, determines the date of this service as circa 1910.

This antique Art Deco cutlery set is a very good gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

This 800 standard silver flatware set has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.

The oak wood box has been professionally polished by a cabinet maker and is also in presentation condition.

The original interior of the box has wear in keeping with age; this does not detract from the aesthetically pleasing appearance of the piece.

The hallmarks struck to the reverse surface of each piece are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine and impressive antique canteen.
