Description


This fine antique Belgian silver coffee jug has a plain baluster form.


The surface of the jug is plain and encircled with an applied band of scrolling leaf decoration to the upper rim.


This fine coffee jug is fitted with a hallmarked domed hinged cover encircled with further applied leaf ornamentation to the rim.


The cover is surmounted by the original and impressive silver floral and foliate finial.


This fine example of antique teaware retains the impressive original carved ivory handle with plain scrolling thumbpiece.


The handle is fitted to impressive embossed leaf decorated sockets accented with leaf wreaths in junction with the body.


This coffee jug is further embellished with applied lobed and strapwork style ornamentation to the underside of the spout.


This fine example of Belgian silverware is supported by three impressive paw style feet accented with strapwork and scrolling ornamentation to the sockets, reflecting the same style as that to the underside of the spout.


The hallmarks to the underside and interior of the cover of this impressive jug include:

Silver quality/purity mark: Double faces (Second standard mark - silver fineness .800, 800/1000)

Maker’s mark: F. Thomas A Bruxelles


Condition


This antique coffee jug is a very good gauge of silver, very good quality and in excellent presentation condition.

The interior of the coffee jug has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use.

The applied and embossed decoration is very sharp.

The hallmarks struck to the underside and interior of the cover are all clear, in keeping with age.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example antique teaware.
