A fine antique Victorian electroplated aesthetic designed jug; part of our silverware collection

Description

This fine jug has a circular conical form onto a colet foot.

An applied band of linked stylised butterflies embellishes the lower border and neck of the jug.

The jug has an overall frosted finish with an engraved tassel decorated Aesthetic style design to the front of the jug.

Above the design is an engraved wreath and ribbon decorated vacant cartouche.

The jug is fitted with a hinged sunken cover which is ornamented with an impressive finial realistically modelled in the form of a butterfly.

An engraved stylised leaf motif embellishes the lower portion of the cover hinge and the lower handle socket.

The jug is fitted with an angular shaped handle with shaped thumbpiece.

Condition

This fine jug is a very good gauge of silver, very good quality and in excellent condition.

The jug retains the original electroplating.

The plater's hallmarks to the underside of the base are clear.
