This fine and exceptional set of antique George III sauce tureens consists of four identical tureens .
Each tureen has a plain oval form onto an oval spreading foot.
The rim of each tureen is ornamented with a gadroon decorated border.
The tureens are fitted with elegant tapering acanthus leaf decorated loop handles.
The domed covers are surmounted with reed and acanthus leaf decorated ring handles.
Each tureen displays the engraved initials 'MJ' below an earl's coronet to one side of body and cover.
To the other side of the cover and body is a bright cut engraved crest of a lion rampant displayed within a scrolling rectangular cartouche.
These fine Georgian tureens could be supplied with appropriate sterling silver sauce ladles if requested.
This impressive set was made by the renowned London silversmith Robert Garrard.
Condition
These fine antique tureens are an exceptional gauge of silver, fine and exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
The bright cut engraved crests and initials are all very crisp.
Full hallmarks struck to the rim of each tureen, and part hallmarks struck to each cover are all very clear.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this set of Georgian silverware.
