A fine antique French silver gilt, enamel and diamond box; part of our continental silverware collection

Description

This fine French silver gilt and enamel box has a ovoid form.

The anterior surface of the hinged cover to this antique box is embellished with engine turned decoration eminating from the central, hand painted enamel plaque.

The underside of the box is plain and unembellished.

The impressive French enamel plaque depicts a sultry woman covering a portion of her face with a mask.

The woman's hair is ornamented with three inset flat back diamonds.

This fine French silver box retains its original gilt interior and exterior.

Condition

This antique French silver box is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

There is minor wear to the surface gilding in keeping with age.

The engine turned decoration is very sharp.

The Minerva head, 950 standard hallmark struck to the surface of the cover, and the Minerva head and maker's hallmarks struck to the rim of the base are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique French silverware.
