A fine antique German silver and enamel Art Nouveau style cigarette or card case; part of our silverware collection

Description

This cigarette case has a rectangular plain form.

The front cover has tooled vertical stripes embellished with a circular design bordering the white strips of enamel which flank a broad band of detailed enamel decoration.

The enamel panel is hand decorated with a subtle Art Nouveau style garland decoration.

The front cover has a plain shaped thumbpiece.

The reverse cover is plain and fitted with a push fit catch which when released reveals the silver gilt interior.

The hallmarks struck to the interior of this fine case include:

Maker's mark: BC (Untraced)

Silver quality/purity mark: 935 (935/1000)

National mark/reichsmark: Crescent moon and crown (Halbmond und Krone)

Condition

This cigarette case is a very good gauge of silver, very good quality and in excellent condition.

The enamel is in perfect condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the interior of the case are all very clear
