Description

This fine and impressive composite pair of antique Edwardian and Victorian glass and sterling silver mounted champagne bottle style wine decanters has a cylindrical bottle shaped form.

The upper portion of each bottle is fitted with an impressive sterling silver cylindrical mount which extends from the rim to the shoulders.

The cover of each bottle is realistically modelled in the form of a champagne cork; one bottle retains the original push fit cover and the other is fitted with a hinged bayonet cover; which to all intents and purposes look the same to the casual observer.

The base of each glass body is embellished with a circular cut glass star motif.

These impressive champagne bottles are a composite pair with different makers and dates; one made by John Grinsell & Sons of Birmingham in 1903 and the other by John Goode & Sons of London in 1893

Date: 1903/1893

Condition

These antique decanters are a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

There are few scratches to the surface of the original glass body of each bottle, in keeping with age.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the mount of of one bottle are clear, and slightly rubbed but legible to the other.

Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of these items of antique glass and silverware.
