This exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver beer jug has a circular baluster shaped form onto a domed circular foot.
The body of this piece of silverware is embellished with impressive chased floral, foliage, scroll and stylised shell decoration accented with a fruiting vine and incorporating a bordered vacant oval cartouche to either side.
The jug is further embellished with a fine and impressive chased mask to the underside of the pouring lip.
This Irish piece retains the original hinged hallmarked domed cover retaining the original hallmarked floral and foliage finial.
The cover is encircled with chased scroll, floral and leaf decoration on a scale motif diaper pattern background.
This jug is fitted with a C scroll handle ornamented with scrolling leaf decoration incorporating an impressive figurehead to the upper portion.
The domed circular foot is encircled with chased floral and scrolling leaf decoration.
Condition
This antique jug is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exception presentation condition.
The decoration to this piece of Irish silverware is very sharp.
Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the jug and part hallmarks to the cover and finial are all very clear.
