The pieces of this magnificent antique Victorian Irish sterling silver four piece tea service have been crafted in the Louis style .
The teapot, spirit kettle, sugar bowl and cream jug are supported by four fine and impressive cast feet embellished with mask decorated sockets.
Each piece of this antique four piece service is embellished with chased wild rose, scroll and leaf decoration incorporating a scroll decorated cartouche to either side.
To one side the cartouche displays a bright cut engraved crest featuring a turtle dove holding an olive branch in its beak.
The cartouche to the opposite side of each piece is vacant.
The teapot and spirit kettle are fitted with hinged hallmarked covers embellished with wild rose and leaf decoration.
The covers retain the original hallmarked sterling silver wild rose style finials.
The teapot and spirit kettle feature exceptional cast sterling silver spouts embellished with chased scroll and leaf decoration.
The spirit kettle is fitted with a plated spirit burner in keeping with style, though not guaranteed as original.
The lip of the cream jug is ornamented with an impressive cast sterling silver mask.
Each piece is fitted with a fine chased decorated shaped handles featuring a thumbpiece with acanthus leaf decoration.
This fine four piece tea service is accompanied by a fine and impressive pair of associated Irish sterling silver sugar tongs made by John Smith in 1891.
These impressive sugar tongs are embellished with chased wild rose and leaf decoration incorporating a vacant circular cartouche across the centre of the tongs.
This magnificent Irish sterling silver tea service is displayed on the tray for illustrative purposes only - the tray (W4389 ) may be purchased separately from the AC Silver inventory if so desired.
Condition
This antique four piece service is an exceptional gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.
The chased decoration is very sharp.
Full hallmarks are struck to the underside of the teapot, spirit kettle, cream jug and sugar bowl and the interior surface of the sugar tongs.
Part hallmarks are struck to the covers, finials and the rim of the kettle stand.
The majority of hallmarks are very clear however, those struck to the teapot and sugar bowl are slightly rubbed.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these items.
