Description

The pieces of this exceptional antique George IV Irish sterling silver three piece tea set have a circular, compressed, rounded, panelled form.

The teapot, sugar bowl and cream jug are each supported by four impressive scrolling acanthus leaf and rose decorated Regency style paw feet.

The body of each piece of this impressive tea service is embellished with fine chased wild rose decoration incorporating a vacant scroll decorated cartouche to either side.

Each piece of this antique tea set is ornamented with an applied floral and leaf decorated border.

The teapot is fitted with a flush hinged chased decorated cover which indicates the high quality of this tea set. The cover retains the impressive original hallmarked sterling silver finial in the form of a wild rose.

The teapot has a fine chased decorated spout and is fitted with a plain C scroll handle ornamented wtih an applied acanthus leaf thumbpiece.

Condition

This antique three piece tea set is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The chased decoration is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of each piece and part hallmarks struck to the cover, handle and finial of the teapot are all very clear.
