Description

This fine pair of antique Victorian Newcastle sterling silver sugar tongs has a plain fiddle pattern form.

The surface of the sterling silver sugar tongs is plain and embellished with the contemporary engraved initials 'ASW' across the centre of the tongs.

These impressive tongs were crafted by the Newcastle silversmiths William Lister I, Clement Lister & William Lister II of Lister & Sons.

Date: 1852

Condition

These antique silver sugar tongs are a very good gauge of silver, very good quality and in excellent condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the interior surface of the tongs are all very clear; the maker’s mark was not deeply struck and shows signs of wear in keeping with age, but remains legible.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these Victorian sugar tongs.
