This exceptional George III Newcastle sterling silver tankard has a plain baluster form onto a circular domed spreading foot.
The surface of this piece is plain and unembellished.
The body of the tankard is encircled with an applied girdle.
This antique Georgian tankard retains the original hinged hallmarked domed cover surmounted with an impressive scrolling thumbpiece.
The hinge is decorated with pendant drop style ornamentation.
The large tankard is fitted with an S scroll handle ornamented with an impressive heart shaped terminal.
This exceptional large tankard was crafted by the renowned Newcastle silversmiths John Langlands I & John Robertson I .
Condition
This antique tankard is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.
Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the tankard, as expected, and lion passant mark to the surface of the cover and maker’s mark to the handle are all very clear.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of Georgian silverware .
