An exceptional pair of vintage Elizabeth II Irish cast sterling silver candlesticks in the George III style; part of our vintage silver candlestick and candelabra collection Description
These vintage Elizabeth II Irish cast sterling silver candlesticks have been crafted in the George III style.
Each candlestick has a baluster shaped form with a knopped stem onto a stepped, shaped incurved base.
The knopped stem is embellished with leaf and shell decoration, accented with grotesque masks to the lower knop.
Both urn shaped capitals are ornamented with chased leaf and flower decoration, including a band of floral decoration which encircles the upper border.
These fine candlesticks retain the original hallmarked detachable sconces with incurved scroll and fluted decorated rims, accented with shell motifs.
The stepped bases of these vintage candlesticks are embellished with four individual cast grotesque masks, one to each corner.
The bases are not weighted.
These exceptional, Georgian style Irish candlesticks were crafted in Dublin, by Mappin and Webb in 1970.
