Description


These exceptional antique George V, large sterling silver candlesticks have a plain classical English form.


The plain cylindrical, waisted capitals are encircled with bands of embossed and tooled decoration.


Each capital is fitted with fixed sterling silver sconce ornamented with a shell motif to each corner.


The upper portion of the waisted shaped column features an embossed panelled quatrefoil shaped knop embellished with four shell designs.


Each column is further ornamented with a plain circular knop to the lower portion above swept, panelled decoration.


These decorative columns surmount quatrefoil incurved shaped bases embellished with further shell ornamentation to each corner.


Each antique silver candlestick has a weighted bases and is fitted with green baize to the underside.


These antique silver candlesticks are large examples for their type, the large bases and columns have an imposing presence.

Condition


These large antique weighted sterling silver candlesticks are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

These pieces have been professionally polished and are in presentation condition.

The embossed decoration is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the rim of each base are all very clear; the hallmarks are deeply struck due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
