Description

These impressive antique Victorian sterling silver peppers have a cylindrical shaped form realistically modelled in the form of champagne bottles.

The upper tapering portion of each pepper shaker is embellished with a band of frosted gilt ornamentation with a scalloped border to the lower edge, representing the metal foil envelope to the bottle.

The lower cylindrical portion and subtly concaved underside of each item is plain and unembellished.

Each pepper is fitted with a gilded push fit cover modelled in the form of a foil capped champagne cork embellished with pierced 'pepper' holes subdivided by an integrated wire muselet/wirehood design.

Date: 1884

Condition

These antique peppers are a very good gauge of silver, excellent quality and in excellent presentation condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each body and cover are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these pieces of Victorian silverware.
