A fine pair of antique Victorian English sterling silver vases; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection

Description

These fine antique Victorian sterling silver vases have a tapering cylindrical form.

There is an embossed girdle to the base which has fluted decoration onto a plain circular colet foot.

The vases are embellished with a broad band of bright cut engraved scrolling acanthus leaf decoration above foliate garland swags to the body.

Each vase is ornamented with a bright cut engraved crest depicting a fully armoured knight on horseback grasping dexter embowed a broken spear in bend proper.

The crest includes the Craig family motto 'Deo Vive et Vives' - 'Live for God and you shall have life'.

The vases retain the original gilded interiors.

Condition

The antique vases are a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent condition.

The engraved decoration is extremely crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each vase are all very clear.

Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of these examples of Victorian silverware.
