Description

This exceptional pair of antique Victorian sterling silver and ivory handled fish servers consists of a serving knife and fork.

The blade of the knife has a shaped form and is embellished with profuse bright cut engraved scrolling leaf and floral motif decoration to the anterior surface.

The reverse surface of the knife and the both surfaces of the fork are ornamented with further bright cut engraved decoration to the lower portion.

The servers have fine and impressive tapering ivory handles with carved shell terminals.

Both servers have embossed scroll, bead and triangular motif decorated ferrules.

These fish servers are fitted to the original hinged leatherette box with satin and velvet lined interior and secures with a push fit catch.

Date: 1889

Condition

These antique fish servers are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The catch to the box does not lock firmly, however the box is in excellent condition in keeping with age.

The bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp and the embossed decoration is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each server are very clear.

Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of these pieces of Victorian silverware.
