These fine Russian Sabbath candlesticks have a knopped stem onto a circular spreading foot with a square base.
The panelled capitals are plain and unembellished.
Each candlestick is embellished with floral and scroll embossed and chased decoration.
These impressive antique Sabbath candlesticks are fitted with associated unmarked sconces.
The rim of each sconce is ornamented with a band of scroll, leaf and flower embossed decoration.
Each base displays the contemporary engraved initials 'F.H.' .
These fine Russian silver candlesticks have weighted bases with green baize to the underside.
The halllmarks struck to these candlesticks:
Maker's mark: W Luther
Asseyor's mark: Partially rubbed - asseyor illegible/ date 1855
Silver quality/purity mark: 84 (84 zolotniks 875/1000)
City mark: The Zilant (Kazan)
Condition
These antique candlesticks are a very good gauge of silver , fine quality and in excellent condition.
The embossed decoration remains very sharp.
There is a slight variation between the height of these candlesticks of around 0.6cm/0.25". Part of the stem is slightly compressed to one candlestick, just below the capital, reducing the height.
The majority of the hallmarks struck to the surface of the base of each candlestick are very clear.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these pieces of Russian silverware .
