Description


This antique American sterling silver wine bottle coaster has a cylindrical form to a plain circular spreading base.


The body of the coaster is embellished with conjoined pierced stylised scrolling leaf decoration.


The interior of the coaster features sprung inserts to either side; these inserts allow the bottle to sit firmly and securely in situ.


The hallmarks to the underside of this antique piece include:

Maker’s mark: George A. Henckel & Co.*

Silver quality/purity mark: Sterling (.925, 925/1000)


* The maker George A. Henckel & Co was later absorbed into the company Currier & Roby.


Condition


This antique wine bottle coaster is a good gauge of silver, very good quality and in excellent condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the base are all very clear.


Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique silverware.
