Description


This fine George IV sterling silver plate has a plain circular hexafoil shaped form with a plain sunken circular central well.


The well of this fine antique plate is plain and unembellished.


The raised shaped border is ornamented with a fine and impressive bright cut engraved coat of arms* surmounted by an earl's coronet,and above the motto ‘Comme Je Fus’ - As I was.


The rim of this antique plate is embellished with an impressive applied gadroon decorated border.


The underside of this fine example of antique silverware bears the retailer’s mark ‘Garrards, Panton Street, London’.


This fine plate was crafted by the renowned and collectable London silversmith Robert Garrard II.


* The coat of arms pertains to Dudley and Ward, Viscount Dudley and Ward of Dudley (1750-1832).


Date: 1827

Condition


This antique plate is an exceptional gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

The bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the dish are all very clear.


Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique silverware.
