This fine George I English Britannia standard* silver pint mug has a plain cylindrical rounded form onto a collet foot.

The lip and foot are encircled with a band of tooled decoration to the rim.

This silver pint mug is fitted with an impressive opposing scroll handle with plain thumbpiece and pendant drop ornamentation below the upper terminal.

* Britannia Silver - The Britannia silver standard of 958 (95.84% of fine silver), denoted by the icon of the seated Britannia holding an oval shield, was introduced by William III in 1697. This was to indicate the slightly higher standard of silver from sterling silver standard of 925 (92.5% of fine silver).

Date: 1719

This antique mug is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the mug are clear; due to their location on the surface of the mug, the hallmarks show slight signs of wear, but remain very clear in keeping with age.

Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique silverware.
