Description


This fine antique Edwardian Britannia* standard silver porringer has a circular bell shaped form in the George I style.


The surface of the porringer is plain and unembellished.


The fine example of antique silverware is fitted with two C scroll handles.


* Britannia standard silver was introduced by the British government in 1697 to denote an alloy of silver containing 95.84% silver, with the balance usually copper. Since the hallmarking changes of 1999 Britannia silver has been denoted by the hallmark 958.

Condition


This antique porringer is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent condition.

The porringer has been professionally polished and in presentation condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the body are all very clear.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of Edwardian silverware.
