Description


This fine antique Burmese silver cigarette case has a plain rectangular form with rounded sides.


The anterior cover is embellished with a fine and impressive chased decorated scene depicting a two figures in traditional Burmese attire, one with a sword stood over a masked beast within a forest glade.


The shaped scene is displayed within a plain paralleling border.


The sides of this solid silver cigarette case and posterior cover are plain and unembellished.


This case is fitted with a rounded thumbpiece and push fit catch, which when released reveals two hinged compartments, one featuring a spring fitment marked ‘STE.VEL’ to each terminal.


This impressive example of antique silverware retains the original gilt interior.

Condition


This antique solid silver cigarette case is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

The gilt interior shows sign of wear in keeping with age.

The chased decoration is very sharp.

Hallmarks struck to the spring (STE.VEL) and to the interior of the cover (S.T.Co) are clear.

 


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this impressive example of antique Asian silverware.
