A fine pair of antique Chinese Export Silver opium receptacles in the form of dragons; part of our silverware collection
Description
These fine Chinese Export Silver (CES) opium receptacles have been realistically cast in the form of three-toed dragons.
The body of each piece is hollow.
Each dragon is supported on four feet, with its neck craned upwards and backwards.
The dragons are embellished with detailed scale chased decoration and impressive pointed ornamentation around the jowls, and along the length of the spine and tail.
Detachable wick holders sit neatly in circular orifices at the mouth of each dragon.
Fine tweezer like utensils with plain truncheon shaped handles slip nicely into the wick holders.
Condition
These impressive dragons are a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent condition.
Hallmarks struck to the sole of one foot of each dragon are clear.
Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of these items.
