These fine and impressive gent's dress studs have been crafted in 22 carat yellow gold.

The antique shirt studs have a plain circular form.

Each stud is embellished with a feature anchor, entwined with a realistically modelled rope twist design.

One stud is ornamented with eighteen old Dutch cut diamonds, and the other decorated with sixteen old round cut sapphires and two old round cut diamonds.

The plain border to each stud displays a contemporary engraved inscription: 'Albert Edward - 1875'*

The reverse of each piece is plain and unembellished and fitted with a fixed, circular stud.

The set is accompanied with an oval, silver medallion which displays the Prince of Wales emblem of the three feathers rising through a coronet encircled by the Order of the Garter, 'Honi soit qui mal y pense'.

This in turn, is encircled by a coronet decorated wreath, flanked on either side with the initals 'A' and 'E'.

The reverse of the medallion displays the text: 'HRH Albert Edward Prince of Wales - India 1875-6'

The medallion is fitted with an articulated ring loop attachment through the upper border.

These studs have been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 22 ct gold.

Note*Queen Victoria's son, Albert Edward, Prince of Wales (Later King Edward VII), undertook an eight month trip to India and the sub-continent in October 1875. He sailed in the modified naval troopship HMS Serapis. Edward's allowance for the tour was one hundred and forty-two thousand pounds sterling, sixty-nine thousand pounds of which was for presents.

One may assume these studs were a gift, presented during the tour.

Date: 1875
