Description


This fine antique Dutch sterling silver ornament has been realistically modelled in the form of a train.


The engine and coal carriage are embellished with embossed scenes depicting figures at leisure in rural settings, with a figural ornamentation behind the cab of the steam locomotive.


The freight carriage and passenger carriage are ornamented with embossed scrolling leaf designs, with further decoration of an embossed bird to the rear of the passenger carriage.


The chimney and steam dome of the engine and top of the passenger carriage are embellished with an embossed textured pattern.


Each component has axles to the underside allowing the functional wheels to rotate.


The carriages connect together with hook closures.

Condition


This antique sterling silver train is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

The embossed decoration is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface and further hallmarks to the underside of each component are all very clear.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine example of imported antique silverware.
