SOLD - German Sterling Silver ‘Swan’ Centrepiece - Antique Circa 1900

Description

This fine antique German sterling silver centrepiece has been realistically modelled in the form of a swan.

The body of the swan is embellished with impressive chased decoration reproducing the details of the swan’s plumage and facial features.

This fine example of antique silverware is fitted with hinged wings to either side.

The centrepiece is fitted with an oval shaped removable liner.

Condition

This fine centrepiece is as extremely good gauge of silver, fine quality and is in excellent condition.

There is a minor ding to the swan’s head; this does detract from the aesthetically pleasing appearance.

The chased decoration is very sharp.

The hallmarks struck to the underside include the 925 standard silver mark, and pseudo-hallmarks often used on Hanau silver.

The hallmarks are slightly rubbed.

Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of this example of antique German silverware.
