A fine and impressive antique Victorian 15 carat yellow gold Pietra Dura brooch; part of the AC Silver jewellery range

Description
 
This impressive brooch has oval form.
 
The brooch has been handcrafted in 15ct yellow gold.
 
The pierced decorated gold frame has an outer bead decorated border accented with applied chased bud and leaf decoration.
 
The frame is set with a fine pietra dura plaque depicting a realistic flowering stem with buds and leaves.
 
The brooch secures to the reverse with a hinged pin and clip.
 
(Pietra Dura: The term pietra dura signifies the requisite hardness and durability of the materials used in mosaic work, officially describing those stones that fall between the 6th and 10th degrees of the Mohs Scale of hardness—that is, between feldspar and diamond.
The most commonly used of these hard stones were quartz, chalcedonies, agates, jaspers, granites and porphyries.)
 
Condition
 
This fine and impressive brooch is a very good gauge of gold, fine quality and in excellent condition.
The pietra dura is in perfect condition.
