Description

This impressive antique Indian silver tea caddy has an octagonal form.

The body of this caddy is embellished with profuse, finely chased Islamic inspired scrolling coriander-leaf designs; a style typically found in Cutch (Kutch) silver work from the second half of the nineteenth century.

The tea caddy is fitted with an impressive hinged domed cover surmounted with a drop shaped sterling silver finial.

The cover is further ornamented with chased coriander- leaf decoration and a square bead border to the rim.

The base of the caddy is plain and un- hallmarked as expected with this type of Asian silverware.

This antique tea caddy is an exceptional gauge of silver, fine quality and in exceptional condition.

This large example of Indian silverware has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.
