Description


This impressive large antique Victorian Irish sterling silver four piece tea and coffee set / service consists of a coffee pot, teapot, cream jug and sugar bowl.


Each piece of this fine set has a plain melon shaped form onto four impressive bracket style feet.


To one side of the body of each piece is a bright cut engraved crest of a swan, wings elevated, collared and chained; the crest to the cream jug has wear in keeping with age.


The shaped rim of each piece is ornamented with an impressive applied opposing scroll decorated border accented with four shell motifs.


Both the coffee pot and teapot are fitted with hinged hallmarked domed covers retaining the original hallmarked floral and foliate finial.


The teapot and coffee pot both have impressive swan necked spouts ornamented with an applied scallop shell decorated terminal.


Each piece has a C scroll handle featuring an impressive acanthus leaf decorated thumbpiece, embellished with scrolling terminals and accented with applied leaf and fruiting vine decoration to the upper portion.


These fine examples of Victorian teaware each stand on four impressive palmette, leaf and scroll decorated bracket style feet ornamented in between with shell motifs.


This fine large Irish sterling silver service is displayed on a tray for illustrative purposes only - the tray (W4241) may be purchased separately from the AC Silver inventory.

Condition


This antique tea and coffee service is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

The decoration to each piece is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the coffee pot and teapot and the surface of the cream jug and sugar bowl are all very clear; hallmarks to the cream just has wear in keeping with age but remains legible.

Part hallmarks to the interior of the cover, handle and finial of the teapot and coffee pot are all very clear.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this set of Victorian Irish teaware.
