Description


This large and impressive antique Irish sterling silver sauceboat has a plain boat shaped form.


The lower portion of this Georgian sauceboat is embellished with embossed concave fluted decoration in a subtly undulating design.


One side of the surface of the sauceboat is further ornamented with a contemporary bright cut engraved crest.


The upper rim of this impressive sauceboat is encompassed with a shaped scalloped border.


This fine Georgian silver sauceboat is fitted with an impressive opposing scroll handle and ornamented with a scrolling leaf thumbpiece.


This large sauceboat is supported by three very impressive applied lion mask and paw decorated feet.


Date: 1767

Condition


This antique Georgian sauceboat is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition, in keeping with age.

Full Irish hallmarks struck to the underside of the sauceboat are very clear; the maker’s mark has not been clearly struck, but remains legible.


Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of this late Georgian silverware.
