Description


This fine antique George II Newcastle sterling silver strainer/mote spoon has an oval rounded with a narrow stem style handle and pointed terminal.


The bowl is ornamented with pierced stylised scrolling leaf decoration in addition to a central quadrilateral arrangement of quatrefoil designs.


This Georgian mote spoon, crafted by the renowned Newcastle silversmith James Kirkup, is a fine and rare example of its type.


Condition


This antique mote spoon is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The full hallmarks, consisting of two maker’s marks, struck to the reverse surface of the handle are very clear considering the type of item.


Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of this piece of Georgian teaware.
