Description


This fine antique George II sterling silver sugar caster has a plain baluster shaped form onto a circular domed foot.


The body of the sugar caster is plain and encircled with a plain applied girdle in addition to an applied moulded border to the rim.


This Newcastle silver caster retains the original push fit cover, embellished with alternating panels of pierced trellis decoration and scrolling stylised leaf designs.


The cover is surmounted with an impressive sterling silver urn shaped finial.


The upper portion of the cover, finial and domed circular foot are encircled with bands of tooled decoration.


This impressive Georgian silver sugar caster was crafted by the renowned and collectable Newcastle silversmith Isaac Cookson.


Date: 1744

Condition


This antique sterling silver sugar caster is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the caster are all very clear.
