Description


This fine antique George III Newcastle sterling silver teapot has a plain oval form onto a collet style base.


The body of the teapot is encircled with two plain broad band of embossed convex decoration.


This fine example of antique silverware is fitted with a hallmarked flush hinged domed cover; the flush hinge indicates the fine quality of this piece.


The cover is surmounted with the original sterling silver stepped cushion style finial, securing to the interior with a screw fitting.


The teapot retains the original C shaped carved pear wood handle with a scrolling thumbpiece and sterling silver cylindrical sockets.


This impressive teapot has a large plain swan necked spout.


This Georgian teapot, crafted by the renowned Newcastle silversmith Christian Ker Reid, is a very large example of its type.


Date: 1802

Condition


This antique teapot is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the teapot are all very clear.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of Georgian silverware.
