SOLD - Pair of German Sterling Silver Peppers – Antique 1909

Description

These fine antique German sterling silver peppers are realistically modelled in the form of Dutch figures in regional dress.

This piece has been embellished with chased decoration reproducing the fine details of the figures dress and facial expressions.

Each pepper retains the original fully hallmarked push fit cover/head, which has pierced 'pepper' holes to the top.

The hallmarks struck to these impressive figures include:

Importer’s mark: BM (B Muller & Son (Berthold Muller))

Import mark: Chester, England

Import date mark: J (1909)

Export mark: n (Ludwig Neresheimer & Co. Hanau, Germany)

Silver quality/purity mark: .925 (sterling standard)

Date: 1909

Condition

These antique peppers are a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the back of the figures feet, the female’s hat and the sleeve of the males head are very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these pieces of antique silverware.
