Description


These impressive George II cast sterling silver candlesticks have circular capitals and a knopped stem onto a classic four shell style base.


The rectangular rounded corner knops and original detachable hallmarked sconces are embellished with four shell decoration.


The candlesticks have circular sunken wells.


Each base displays a subtle bright cut engraved crest of a squirrel sejant cracking a nut.


Date: 1747

Condition


These impressive candlesticks are an exceptional gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent condition in keeping with age.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of each base are all very clear.

Part hallmarks struck, as expected, to the capitals are clear apart from one of the maker's marks being slightly rubbed.
