This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver teapot has a circular rounded form.

The upper portion of the body is embellished with impressive chased scroll bordered floral, foliate and scrolling leaf decoration on a matte background incorporating two large shaped cartouches.

One cartouche remains vacant and the other is ornamented with a bright cut engraved crest of a dove holding in its beak a leafed branch below the motto ‘I wait my time’.

The flared, broadly fluted upper rim of the teapot is encircled with an embossed and chased floral and scrolling leaf border.

This teapot retains the original hinged hallmarked domed cover which incorporates a chased scrolling leaf decorated finial.

The domed portion of the cover is encircled with four chased floral and foliate designs on a matte background.

The fine and impressive C scroll handle is ornamented with a large, chased decorated single leaf design which is incorporated into the shaped thumbpiece.

The upper socket of the handle is embellished with impressive chased leaf decoration.

The fine and impressive swan necked spout is ornamented with floral and foliate decoration to the underside accented with scrolling leaf designs to both sides of the spout and around the lip.

This exceptional example of Victorian teaware is supported on four impressive bracket style feet embellished with further chased leaf and scroll decoration.

This teapot was crafted by the same maker as the coffee pot W6897; both pieces are embellished with the same crest and motto and would sit very well together as a set.

Date: 1842

This antique teapot is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The chased decoration to this piece is very sharp and the bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the teapot and cover are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of Victorian silverware.

Height to top of thumbpiece 18.3cm/7.2"

Diameter of body 16.5cm/6.5"

Width from back of handle to tip of spout 29.2/11.5"
