Description
This fine sterling silver bowl has a circular rounded form onto a circular domed foot.
A broad band of applied figural Romanesque style decoration encircles the upper border of the bowl.
Embossed fluted decoration embellishes the lower portion of the bowl.
A band of embossed egg and tongue decoration encircles the foot of the bowl.
The bowl is fitted with two impressive chased acanthus leaf decorated scrolling handles.
Chased decorated berries further ornament the upper handle socket.
This bowl was made by the renowned Birmingham silversmith Elkington & Co.
Condition
This fine George V bowl is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent condition.
The bowl has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.
Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the bowl are clear, in keeping with the age of the piece.
