The pieces of this fine and comprehensive Victorian sterling silver canteen service for twelve persons have been crafted in the fiddle pattern.

The service was made between 1850 – 1882 using the same die for a perfect size and shape match*, by the same renowned and collectable silversmith and flatware maker George Adams of London.

This impressive canteen is fitted to a fine mahogany lift up lid and well, two drawer canteen box which retains the original brass carry and drawer handles.

The box lid is embellished with satinwood banding to the rim and a central satinwood inlaid decorated oval panel.

*Predominately all antique silver canteens have replacement knives as the originals have not stood the test of time.


The pieces of this impressive antique canteen are a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the reverse of each piece are all very clear.

The mahogany canteen box has been professionally polished by a cabinet maker, and is also in excellent, presentation condition.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine and impressive canteen.
