Description


This exceptional antique George II sterling silver caster has a plain baluster shaped form onto a circular domed foot.


The body of the caster is plain and encircled with a plain applied girdle in addition to an applied moulded border to the rim.


This impressive Georgian silver caster retains the original push fit cover, embellished with alternating panels of pierced scrolling designs.


The cover is surmounted with an exceptional sterling silver tiered urn style finial.


The body of the caster, finial and domed circular foot are encircled with bands of tooled decoration.


This impressive Georgian silver caster was crafted by the revered and collectable silversmith Paul de Lamerie and is an exceptional example of its type.


Date: 1738

Condition


This antique caster is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the caster and part hallmarks, consisting of lion passant and maker’s mark, to the cover are all very clear.
