Description


This fine antique George II sterling silver chamber candlestick (chamberstick) has a plain circular form onto a plain collet foot.


The baluster shaped hallmarked capital is encircled with bands of applied decoration.


The capital surmounts a sunken well, encircled with tooled decoration below an applied moulded border.


This silver chamberstick is fitted with an impressive shaped handle with scrolling thumbpiece and ornamented with the contemporary engraved initials ‘DH’.


This impressive Georgian chamberstick is crafted by the collectable and renowned London silversmith Paul de Lamerie.


Date: 1731

Condition


This antique chamber candlestick is an exceptional gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

The engraved decoration is crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the well are all have wear in keeping with age and location, but remain legible.

The lion passant mark to the capital is very clear.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of Paul de Lamerie silver.
