Description

This exceptional antique George V sterling silver corkscrew has an angular form in the Art Deco style.

The hallmarked sterling silver handle of this antique corkscrew is embellished with moulded stepped ornamentation to the centre of the handpiece

The corkscrew is fitted with a steel screw or 'worm'; this clockwise helix is intended for right-handed use.

Although this item displays the London Assay Office hallmarks, it was crafted by the provincial Newcastle silversmiths Reid & Sons; the Newcastle Assay Office closed in 1884, therefore assayed in London.

Date: 1933

Condition

This antique corkscrew is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of one fingerpiece are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine example of antique silverware.
