Description


This fine antique early Victorian sterling silver dinner plate has a plain circular hexafoil shaped form.


The circular well of the plate is embellished with a bright cut engraved crest of an eagle rising on a mount, below the motto 'Semper Paratus'- Always Ready.


The shaped border of this fine example of Victorian silverware is ornamented with fine and impressive applied gadroon decoration to the rim accented with leaf and pear drop motifs.


The underside of this impressive silver plate bears the retailer's mark 'Green & Ward'.

Condition


This antique plate is an extremely good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent condition.

The applied decoration is very sharp, and the bright cut engraved coat of arms is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside are very clear.


Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of this example of Victorian silverware.
