Description

This fine antique Edwardian sterling silver dish ring* has a circular waisted form.

The sterling silver body of the dish is embellished with embossed and pierced goat head and bird designs amidst scrolling decoration accented with floral, foliate and fruit motifs.

The decoration to the body incorporates a scroll and leaf bordered shaped vacant cartouche to either side.

This antique dish ring is fitted with a removable blue glass liner.

* The dish ring, also known as a potato ring, was introduced in the late 17th century and used to support a hot food dish on a table or sideboard; not only adding to the ornamentation but also protecting the surface against heat.

Condition

This antique dish ring is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The embossed and pierced decoration is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the body are all very clear.
