This very fine and impressive antique Victorian sterling silver free standing mirror has a rectangular form.

The supporting frame and strut are made of ebonised wood.

The pierced decorated hallmarked silver frame is accented with grotesque and caricature masks within fantastic embossed and chased scroll, leaf, shell and floral decoration.

An ornamented shield shaped cartouche bearing the contemporary bright cut engraved initials 'PC' surmounted by a nobleman's coronet is integrated into the design along the lower border of the frame.

This impressive mirror retains the original bevelled glass.

Date: 1886

This antique mirror is an exceptional example of its type.

The mirror frame is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent condition.

The decoration is crisp and sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface are all very clear.

Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of this example of Victorian silverware.
