Description


This antique Victorian sterling silver entrée dish has a shaped hexafoil form.


The body of this Victorian dish is plain and unembellished.


The rim of the dish is ornamented with a shaped applied scroll decorated border, accented with six applied floral motifs.


The well of the dish is plain and unembellished.


This antique dish is fitted with its original hallmarked cover, which retains the original hallmarked detachable entwined leaf style handle.


The upper surface of the shaped cover is encircled by a band of applied scrolling leaf decoration.


Date: 1853

Condition


This antique Victorian sterling silver entrée dish is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

There are minor knife marks to the base of the dish, as expected in keeping with age.

The decoration is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface, base and cover of the dish, and part hallmarks struck to the handle are all very clear.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of Victorian silverware.
