Description

This Victorian sterling silver fruit dish has a scallop shell form onto three realistically modelled nautilus shell style feet.

The rim of this antique dish is ornamented with a crimped border.

What would be the umbo of the natural shell forms the domed handpiece of this fine dish.

This is ornamented with embossed floral and scroll decoration, surrounding a vacant domed oval cartouche.

The fluted sides of the dish are embellished with pierced decorated stylized designs, accented with embossed scroll and floral motifs.

Date: 1897

Condition

This Victorian dish is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent condition.

The dish has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.

The embossed decoration remains very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the dish are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of Victorian silverware.
